’The Oaks’ Par 3 Course

On this page you can read a brief description of each hole on the Oaks par 3 course, accompanied by a picture of the hole itself. We hope this will give you a flavour of the course.

You can also click the buttons on the left to see a scorecard for the course, or a layout of the complete course.

Hole 1 - “The Firs” - 160 yards

The second longest hole off the yellow tees. Out of bounds down the left and behind the green, but plenty of room right.  Anything going off the back of the green which does not go out of bounds will need a delicate pitch back on to get close to the pin.

Hole 2 - “Gulley” - 105 yards

No real danger here. Plenty of room both left and right, although anything not straight may be behind a mound.  A well struck drive will give a chance of a birdie here.

Hole 3 - “Hawthorns” - 125 yards

As the name suggests, a hedge runs the length of the hole on the left.  No danger for a straight drive, but a copse of hawthorns both left and right of the green will punish a wayward shot.

Hole 4 - “Quarry” - 125 yards

Only 125 yards, but do NOT be fooled ! You need to select a club to carry 160 yards uphill to a two tier green.  Danger from the quarry and a pond on the right, and rough and a road on the left.

Hole 5 - “Sandhills” - 145 yards

From an elevated tee you drive to a generous fairway and green. There is a lateral ditch 30 yards off the tee and trees all the way up the left hand side of the fairway.

Hole 6 - “Club House” - 85 yards

No real danger here. From the tee you drive to an elevated green.  A well struck shot could easily be rewarded with a birdie to finish off the ‘front six’.

Hole 7 - “Hillocks” - 105 yards

Slightly elevated green from the tee. Sparse trees up the left of the fairway, and a bunker short and right of the green.  A shot off the back of the green could be punished as there is not a lot of room.

Hole 8 - “Downhill” - 85 yards

A very inviting downhill tee shot to a generous green.  Any over-ambitious drive is very likely to run through the green.  Beware the oak tree left and back of the green.

Hole 9 - “White Horse” - 115 yards

Slightly elevated green from the tee. There is a copse of trees up the left side of the fairway, and a large, deep bunker front and right of the green.  Sensible tee shot is slightly left.

Hole 10 - “Farm Yard” - 65 yards

Slightly uphill drive with a hedge tight up the left hand side. Shallow green and you need to be accurate.  This hole will reward a good shot with a birdie opportunity, but people have often scored double figures on this hole!

Hole 11 - “Windy Ridge”
 175 yards

Longest hole off the yellow tees. Out of bounds hedge all the way up the right.  Two bunkers protect the green front and left.  Best played with a ‘lay up’ shot and pitch on.  Be happy with a 4 !!

Hole 12 - “Oaks” - 115 yards

Inviting downhill tee shot to a generous green.  Hedge down the right hand side, and a large oak tree right and back of the green.  Any shot which is long or left will leave a tricky uphill chip onto the green.
